Admin--No More

Well, I have had enough. I haven't had the time to do anything for myself including keeping up with this blog so I have left the role of an administrator and have returned to the classroom. As hard of a decision as that was, it feels great now! Between working 70 hours a week, having teachers roll their eyes in meetings, fighting with unions, and just always being tired, I realized that I wanted more out of life right now. I can actually move back "home" and spend time with family and friends while at the same time working closely with kids. Who could ask for anything more?

Sunny,
You have taken quite a bold step, and I am impressed. I still love teaching, and I try to do as much as I can even as an administrator, but it is difficult. There is so much administrivia to deal with. Good luck. I hope you will continue to write in your blog about your new experiences as a teacher and how you are handling the change from admin to the classroom. You can bring a very unique perspective to the rest of us poor administrators!

Sunny,
I read your comments on another site and stopped by to catch this post as well as your one on superb teachers. Great work - I just posted an article on a teacher who had great influence on me at:

I retired from education as an administrator and have since returned to the classroom and I am reborn - I now remember why I went into this profession.
